Andrew Moloney Goes to 17-0
WBA Oceania Super Flyweight champion Andrew “The Monster” Moloney retain his belt by UD (98-91 x2, and 99-91 at the Malvern Town Hall tonight. Fighting with a busted eardrum from his last sparring session as he prepared for this fight, he showed true character by fighting on without disappointing Team Moloney, promoter Lynden Hoskings and his fans. The champ is now maturing into a complete fighter and thanks must be given to his corner Angelo Hyder and Tony Nobbs for this. Switching from southpaw to orthodox with ease, he showed good variation and composure to rack up the points every round. Round 7 was looking like another one under his belt as he was throwing plenty of leather until he got caught by a right hand which dropped the champ. Obviously he was stunned but looked more disappointed that he got caught. Warily he finished off that round and accepted that the Filipino opponent was dangerous and commanded respect as he had power in both hands and a good set of whiskers. This latest win now further enhances his dream to fight WBA champ Khalid Yafai.
