Foley Fight Stopped Due to Cut, Retains Title
Frid 24th August at Emirates Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland was WBA Oceania Super Lightweight champion Darragh Foleys 1st foray into defending his title overseas against Welshman Chris Jenkins.
With plenty of supporters cheering the champion on, 1st round was a close affair but all 3 judges saw it in favour of the champion.
Round 2 saw the champ land a beautiful straight left which stunned the challenger. Mixing it up later in that round, Jenkins receives a nasty gash on his right eyelid from an accidental headclash. Plenty claret starts to flow so much so the doctor then examines the injury when he comes back to his corner after the 3rd round.
Deliberating with referee Micheal Alexander, fight was stopped on the doctors recommendation at the start of the 4th round. Foley retains title due to official ruling being a Technical Draw
Scores at the time of the stoppage had the champion ahead 29-28 (x2) and 30-27
